Roswell Dance Theatre has been helping the people of Coalmont, TN for over 30 years. The great grandparents of our Artistic Director, Nancy Tolbert Yilmaz, were some of the original settlers of Coalmont. The community has suffered following the decline of the coal industry.

As in the past, Roswell Dance Theatre and Tolbert Yilmaz School of Dance families will work together to support Coalmont residents. This year, we will collect and distribute gift-filled shoeboxes during our Boxes from Ballerinas initiative.

Pack a Box

  1. Decide whether you will fill a box for a male or female and the age category: 2-4 years, 5-9 years, 10-14 years, or Nursing Home Resident.
  2. Find a shoebox. Start with an average-size cardboard or plastic shoebox.
  3. Fill with gifts. Select one medium-large “wow” item such as a soccer ball or stuffed animal, then fill with other fun toys, school supplies or essential items. (*See list below for gift suggestions.)
  4. Wrap. Wrap the shoebox lid and box separately. Complete and detach tag below and affix to box. Please select “Male” or “Female” and age category.
  5. Drop off. Deliver your box to the Front Desk. We will be accepting gifts Monday, December 7th through Saturday, December 12th.

2-4 Years

  • Personal care items such as comb, toothbrush, blanket, water bottle
  • Crayons, coloring book, picture book, playdoh, stickers,

5-9 Years

  • Ball, doll, stuffed animal, clothing, small musical instrument, watch, sunglasses
  • Personal care items such as comb, toothbrush, blanket, water bottle
  • Pencils, crayons, markers, notebook, ruler, calculator, watercolor set

10-14 Years

  • Soccer ball/football, clothing, small musical instrument, watch, sunglasses
  • Personal care items such as comb, toothbrush, blanket, water bottle, lip balm
  • Pencils, pens, markers, notebook, ruler, calculator, index cards

Nursing Home Resident

  • Socks, blanket, stationery, large-print books, puzzles and games, flashlight
