Established in 2014, the Modern company is North Fulton’s premiere company for young modern dancers. Modern Company Director, Tracy Vogt Wardlaw, seeks out today’s professionals to work with the company.
Unique instruction in Modern and Contemporary dance technique, with continuous performance opportunities, sets this select group of dancers apart from other companies in the area. There are currently three levels in the Modern Company: Junior, Senior, and Principal.
Modern Company dancers participate in Roswell Dance Theatre’s annual production of The Nutcracker; are invited to audition for roles in the PrePro Spring Concert; and attend Modern dance festivals each year. A showcase of original modern choreography, Straight From the Heart is presented each year in April. The showcase gives dancers the opportunities to choreograph and work with guest artists.
Director: Tracy Vogt Wardlaw
The Modern Company presents a showcase each year in April to the studio families and community. The event promotes the artistry of Modern dance, highlights the work of the Modern Company and promotes Company membership. Alumni, guest artists, faculty and Company members come together for the showcase which is followed by a reception for all guests. Proceeds from the event are used to support guest artists and purchase costumes and resources for the company.
We are sad to announce that due to the impact of COVID-19 on our studio availability, the Modern Company has indefinitely postponed the 2020 Straight From the Heart performances. As is our tradition, we are producing a small quantity of SFTH t-shirts, available for all members of the Modern Company, as well as anyone else who would like to support us at this time.
Modern Company curriculum includes modern, ballet, jazz and contemporary classes each week, with additional technique class and rehearsals held on Sunday afternoons. Modern Company performs in two events each spring in addition to company productions – BalletFest and their spring concert Straight from the Heart. Rehearsal time throughout the year is dedicated to setting and refining several pieces that are performed at these events.
