Life above the sea holds so much interest for the mermaid princess Ariel. She searches the ocean floor to find treasure dropped by humans above and swims just to the edge to glimpse people on ships that cross the waters over her head. Her longing to live in the sunshine leads her to make a deal with the sea witch Ursula. From the moment the deal is sealed, Ariel has to overcome many challenges as she struggles to win over the heart of Prince Eric.
