Maia Jones

Maia Jones is an TYSOD and RDT alumni, she recently graduated summa cum laude from SUNY Purchase with a BFA in Dance. While in Purchase’s Dance Conservatory, Maia trained vigorously in various ballet, modern, and contemporary techniques; as well as performed in various student-lead productions. She has worked with choreographers Norbert De La Cruz III, Andrea Miller, Victor Quijada, Sidra Bell, Kayla Farrish, Crystal Wellman, and Connie Shiau.

In addition to her dance training, Maia has choreographed for the For the People: A BIPOC Show at SUNY Purchase (2021, 2022, and 2024), Her Grandfather’s Garden, an improvisational multimedia installation at SUNY Purchase’s Art Forum Space (2024), and at the RDA National Choreographic Intensive (2019 and 2022).

As a freelance dancer, Maia joined the Unbound Ballet Project for their summer season in 2025 for their two performances in Charleston, South Carolina. She continues to work with project-based choreographers in the Atlanta area.

Maia started teaching at TYSOD for their summer camps, drop-in’s, and intensives in 2023. Over the last few years she has taught modern, jazz, ballet, and contemporary to various ages and technical levels. She is looking forward to being on faculty for the 2025-2026 season, teaching jazz to both open school and company levels.
