Call Time! At Roswell Dance Theatre, we exist to train and educate our members, as well as stage professional productions for our audiences. The community has supported us for over 30 years and enthusiastically embraces The Nutcracker experience each holiday season, along with our other professional productions and dozens of community outreach events throughout the year. For each event, we value the time and contributions of our parent volunteers before, during, and after the curtains close.
While Roswell Dance Theatre offers its members many performance opportunities, there are also lots of chances to get on stage throughout the region. RDT supports and encourages dancers who participate in regional festivals and performances with the Ballet Company and/or Movement Collective.
Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) is the world’s largest global network of dance. Every spring, Regional Dance America-Southeast (RDA-SE) member companies gather for an annual festival. Over 700 dancers, directors, choreographers and master instructors spend four days sharing all aspects of the art of dance through classes, workshops and free time for networking. Dancers are also considered for summer intensive and training program scholarships.
The RDA-SE Festival also serves as a public showcase for the best work done by member companies each year. Impartial adjudicators visit member companies in early spring to view pieces under consideration, then choose those of the highest merit for performance at Festival, maintaining RDA-SE’s high standards for dance performance.
RDT performs every year at several local events and festivals, including the Roswell Arts Festival and City Springs Day in the fall and the City of Roswell Memorial Day Ceremonies in May. These performances are free of charge and open to the public.
Each year culminates with an Open School recital for all enrolled students at the Tolbert Yilmaz School of Dance. Presented each May at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center, the recital gives all dancers stage experience as they display the progress made during the year for family and friends. Recital weekend includes 8 or more shows with class performances, senior solos and select RDA-SE and festival pieces from the season.
RECITAL FEES are billed each year in November to cover the cost of costumes, theater rental and rehearsal time. Dancers receive their costumes in March in time for photos, alterations, and the chance to wear the costumes to class for practice. Hair and makeup instructions are provided to parents during this time.
RECITAL TICKETS go on sale in mid-April. All tickets are for reserved seats and must be purchased online. Tickets for recitals do sell out. It is VERY important that you get online when they go on sale to ensure you can watch your dancer perform. To avoid scheduling conflicts, please block off the entire recital weekend. Exact show date/time for your dancer’s class will be announced in March.
RECITAL PHOTOGRAPHS are taken at the studio. Dancers’ photo shoot times are the same as their regularly scheduled class day and time. You may view proofs and purchase photographs online through the photographer’s website.
DRESS REHEARSALS are held at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center at your dancer’s regularly scheduled class day and time. All dancers must arrive at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center dressed in their costume with hair and makeup done.
