Nutcracker magic kicks off the holidays

Dancers from the Tolbert Yilmaz School of Dance along with the in-house performing company the Roswell Dance Theatre are still glistening with holiday magic after the annual production of The Nutcracker. Elegantly costumed and staged, the show was enjoyed by 10,000 patrons at ten shows over two weekends at the beautiful Byers Theatre at the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center.

Roswell Dance Theatre stages a traditional presentation of The Nutcracker to kick off the holiday season every year, bringing joy to all who witness its magic. Company dancers begin learning and rehearsing their parts in August, at the pre-season Nutcracker boot camp. Rehearsals continue throughout the fall, with the dancers taking the stage the day after Thanksgiving to open the 10-show run. The investment of time and effort by each choreographer, instructor, dancer, stage hand, and volunteer is evident at every show.

After a short winter break, the school and company dancers will be back in the studio preparing for two upcoming spring productions: RDT’s Movement Collective will present excerpts from West Side Story in March, and the RDT PreProfessional company will present Cinderella in April. Show details coming in January.
