Dance from Home through our Online Studio
Every open school and company class offered at Tolbert Yilmaz School of Dance will be available LIVE through Zoom at the scheduled time in-person for the class. This gives all our dancers unlimited flexibility when health or family schedules complicate getting to class at the studio.
Registration for all instructor-led classes is completed with JackRabbit, our online registration system. Once you are registered for a class, you can attend it in person at the studio OR access it online from your location. All classes will have a registration cap that includes students who are in the studio or participating online, so you do not need to specify during registration whether you will be dancing in person or remotely. You will have access to both options and can make your decisions as the year progresses. Please note that the opportunity for feedback is optimal with in-person attendance.

Zoom Dancing
We know that taking a dance class online may be new for you, so here are some tips that will help you have a better experience:
- Start ahead of time and set up your dance space. Your garage/basement/bedroom is not a dance studio, but you can still get in a good workout if you find a spot in your house where there is space to move around.
- Use a chair/kitchen counter/mantle/back of the sofa for your ballet barre. Make sure whatever you choose is a comfortable height and stable.
- Dress how you feel most comfortable – you can put on a leotard and tights, or just wear casual exercise gear.
Our amazing faculty has also recorded instructional videos on everything from warm-ups to technique tweaks to some relaxing stretches. These are a great way to supplement your regular class schedule.
