This year, the dancers will use their time and athletic abilities to raise money for the Roswell Dance Theatre Dance Relief Fund, which will provide support to the company and its members. The unprecedented events of 2020 have deeply impacted RDT and its members are doing their part to raise funds for the organization that has been a second home to so many of them throughout their childhood.
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit America in March, performing arts companies were among the first to suspend operations and temporarily close their doors, to their own members and to their patrons. RDT immediately began to provide a wide offering of livestream dance classes, but had to cancel all spring 2020 performances, and sustain the loss of revenue that would have offset the expense of preparing those shows. As many businesses reopen, performing arts companies still have many challenges to overcome in the enduring effort to keep their members and patrons safe and healthy. Roswell Dance Theatre is resilient in the face of these challenges, with its membership dedicated to the belief that the arts have the power to help heal the deep wounds our community has suffered.
