Hugs From Young Choreographers is an annual charity event held at the Tolbert Yilmaz School of Dance performance studio. Top level Roswell Dance Theatre Ballet Company members present three performances to benefit a charity of their choosing. Each Choreographer selects music, cast, and costumes to create an original masterpiece. HUGS allows our young people to showcase their talents to the public and show the community how effective young people can be when they join together to make an impact.

This year, the dancers will use their time and athletic abilities to raise money for the Foster Care Support Foundation, a nonprofit organization that serves a vital and growing need throughout Georgia by providing free clothing, infant equipment, and developmental toys to thousands of children (ages newborn through teens) in foster and relative care in every county in Georgia. FCSF also sponsors a Mentoring Program that provides guidance and resources for displaced pre-teens and teens to help ensure their successful future. I want to support this year’s HUGS event.

In order to maintain comfortable seating for all our guests, we are asking that you RESERVE YOUR SEAT at the HUGS show you want to attend. We have capped the reservations at less than full capacity to provide extra space between parties. Our younger audience members will be invited to take a seat on the floor right in front of the stage for a great view of everything that goes on onstage!

Please be considerate when reserving seats and claim only the number you will actually be using.

We are offering a virtual way to see our HUGS shows to supporters far and wide. Cameras will be rolling during the final performance! You can purchase the show as a live-stream or a 3-day rental. This is a great way to share the show with anyone who cannot attend in person. It is also a fun way for the HUGS cast to be audience members and see the show from the other side of the stage!

This Encore Presentation will only be available for a limited time.

Along with the original choreographic works, we will have a HUGS Boutique with items for sale at all three performances to raise additional money for the charity. Our younger dancers always look forward to previewing the wide collection of hand-decorated pointe shoes made by the choreographers and picking at least one special one to take home as a keepsake. This year we will also have several other items for sale, including mini-succulents in hand-decorated pots and inspired dancer decor.

The HUGS 2021 boutique will be located in the main lobby at our new facility and will be open all day Saturday September 18 during our HUGS shows.

ALL proceeds will go to Foster Care Support Foundation.

HUGS fundraising efforts also include a silent auction each year. Auction items will be on display in our main lobby all day Saturday Sept 18 during the HUGS shows, and bidding will be done online again this year. There will be many amazing auction baskets – Mrs. Mary’s home-baked treats, private lessons with a favorite teacher, and much much more!

  • The auction opens on Saturday Sept 11 so you can start browsing and bidding.
  • The auction will close Sunday Sept 19 at 2:00.

*To bid in our auction you must first create an account on the auction website.
