Mary Maloy

Mary Maloy is Roswell Dance Theatre’s Assistant Costume Mistress. She started her creative career at a young age, creating and designing her own Barbie dresses, long before the Barbie fashion wave hit. From there it grew to shirts and dresses in Home Economics with Miss Twait. Although reprimanded for sewing too fast and not taking her time, she maintained straight A’s in these classes. She even created her own skating and synchronized swimming costumes. Throughout her educational years, Mary was mentored by the best in the business, her mom, Dolly Sichko. Dolly was an amazing seamstress and could undergo any creative project, from Prom dresses to American girl doll clothes for the grandkids.

Mary rekindled her passion for sewing and creating years ago when her daughter, Paige Hinkley, was a student at the Tolbert Yilmaz School of Dance and graced the staged in many RDT productions.

After taking many classes from Claudia Folts, the creative genius at Tutu.com, Mary has discovered her true passion is headpieces. Her works can be seen on MAY characters in RDT’s annual production of The Nutcracker: Nutcracker’s head, Mouse King’s head, Sugarplum Fairy crown and many other lead Nutcracker characters.
